There has been a thread about this car on TLF - with pictures before it changed to the Gold-Leaf colours.
Interior is original - and I think the S2 cloth interior is the best of the whole range.
I bought my Excel from Sovereign - it had been with them for a couple of years and the price ha dropped by 25% over the time. They had no idea about Lotus cars 3 years ago - said the cam belt change 3000 miles earlier was fine (apart from it was 15 years earlier as well)., and had never heard of a belt being changed after a number of years. If you buy it, don't drive it until you have changed the belts - don't believe the salesman. Sovereign tried to get me to commit before letting me have a test drive and they tried the "We have someone coming to see it tomorrow"
My big concern with it is that it has done no miles over the last years. Untaxed - due Jan 2002, yet MOT Expires Apr 2019. so not been driven at all. When I bought my Excel it went straight to my mechanic and cost an addition few £k to get it to a place where I have now driven it 20k miles in the past 4 years.
I do love the interior of this car, and I think it is nice to see a slightly unusual colour scheme.

If you are definitely looking for an Esprit, hop over the TLF and ask some advice there and pop along to a local meet where you should be able to see/feel one in the flesh and speak to current owners.
Keep an eye on the one at Sovereign as they do tend to sit there for a while and the price drops over time.
