looking to purchase - X180 or Turbo

a little advise please - im looking to buy a Lotus - i am not sure which one to go for - i have the choice of these 2 currently, unless someone knows one better to go for.
I have owned Several sports cars and have always admired the Lotus Esprit -

Im looking for a car that i can drive circa 2000 miles a year. which one might hold its value more x180 with 40,000 miles or turbo with 65,000?
any help would be much appreciated,

IMO for your occasional weekend use the one to go for is the one that's least likely to give you any trouble, and that must be the X180. By the time those cars were built Esprit was well and truly sorted and the engine's not really very stressed at all. Same goes for the transmission, which I think by then was a Renault unit (shared with GTA/Alpine) rather than the earlier Citroen box.
On the other hand if you want to drive "fast" you'll need the Turbo. Sure, the turbo was also pretty well sorted by 1989 but everything's inevitably hotter, under greater stress and there are more expensive oily bits to go wrong.
If you haven't already got them the Jeremy Walton books about Esprit are useful, although getting a bit pricey. Even the John Simister book (available for one penny!) has useful information. Have a look on Amazon.
Tip: Whatever you do, don't overpay for a car with a ratty interior. They are awkward and expensive to fix. As always with old cars, and they are old, buy on overall condition and good service history rather then fretting about age/mileage (within reason).
