fuel injection conversion

hey... I'm afraid to ask. Is it worthwhile to buy an older carb car and convert to fuel injection... How much would such a conversion cost/how easy would it be? I was just wondering, because carbd cars are a better deal than fi, but I'd like the performance/reliability/fuel economy gains. Thanks
