I've been looking at some of the cars the dealers have been peddling, but none of them seem to know anything about the service histories (and Lotus Cars USA won't answer questions anymore :-( I'd love to find a car that's been maintained and treated with some respect - and more importantly - I'd prefer to buy from a private seller than a dealer.

I know of an S4 for sale by owner. I don't know it well enough to say if it was particularly "pampered" or not, but I can put you in touch with the independent shop mechanic who worked on it. He could probably give you a knowledgeable opinion of it's condition.
