Hi members, where are the proper jacking points underneath an esprit? The shop I'm going to has a four point lift. Which 4 points can be used to support the car?

Thanks,

Erik

i made some simple adapters
to mate a lift to the jacking points
on the esprit
you can check them out at my website
http://web.tampabay.rr.com/redrocket
goto the tools section
they are 2x4 wood pieces with 1.5" counterbore
in which i fit 1.25" cuts of a36 round bar
to fit into the jacking points

The four jacking points on the car can easily be found, they are in the sills just inside from both the front and rear wheels, there's a little cut out that identifies them.

Personally I've never been that comfortable jacking the car up by them, it all seems to creak and groan a bit much for my liking.

At the front I tend to go with lifting her from the front cross member.

At the rear I use the base of the hoop at the rear of the car that runs just under the back of the gear box.

There's a link on LEW with a pic of the jacking points;

BTW, RagingFool after browsing your webby I've just ordered a Park Smart Wall Guard - Nice one

I'm with zhastaph. That creaking makes me uncomfortable, and I lift from the front cross member and back hoop thing too. I would add that I put my jackstands under the shock mounts at the rear, and I have a hockey puck that I use on my jack when I do lift (rarely) at one of the so-called jacking points.

I'll add to that. The factory jack points are a step above cosmetic and they are not functional in any real way. In fact, I am having to re-glass and re-mount the shackle at the right rear point on my cat as the previous owner apparently used it. Cross member in the front and either the "hoop" described above or the points just inside and in front of the rear wheels where the frame points come together.

Hi,
I made 4 rubber pieces with a slot that fit quite nice onto the stock jacking points.

My opinion of the jacking points is that they're only good if you're using all four at the same time to lift the car (on a lift), otherwise don't bother (use the aforementioned points if you're lifting just one end).
