Just took the cover off a couple of weeks ago and found the car covered with streaks of soap and or wax. The whole body is covered, including the glass. It really looks a mess.
Tried cleaning it off the windows using Windex but that hardly touched it. It does come off with much hard buffing but I don't want to do that to the new paint job I had done last year.
I can't figure out what it is. The only thing I can think of is that last fall, just before putting the car away for it's winter sleep, I washed it using the Mr Clean autodry kit. (I have used it before in warmer weather with pretty good results.) But this time, it was really cold when I washed it and I think that maybe some of the soap may have frozen on the car and didn't rinse off.
I tried washing the car with Maquiars carwash but that didn't touch it either.
I am thinking maybe I need to use a wax stripper but I don't know what that will do to the clearcoat.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Get a bottle of Prepsol. This will take it off with little effort and will not harm the paint. Prepsol is used to cleanup the paintwork of any tar, sap, excess wax or insect residue, Oooops, forgot the recycled bird food, from the body prior to doing any sort of paintwork to insure a good bond.
It is an excellent product and can be used to remove tar, freshen rubber seals etc. I wouldn't be witout a bottle as one never knows the potential uses.
You can find Prepsol, or it's equivalent, at nearly any auto body supply store, maybe even Pep Boys, although I less certain of this.
