No, but Lotus offer one as do Quaife. I have a Quaife ATB Diff which goes in shortly.

BAAKPD:

The Esprit does not have an LSD. I installed a Quaife LSD from Michael's Motorsports (www.MichaelsMotorsports.com) and it really helps the car get the power down properly.

Hi,
Normal esprits donot have a LSD installed from factory. There is only one model that came with a friction-style LSD (40% lock) ... it´s the Sport 300 that had this feature from factory.

BTW, I personally don´t like the friction-LSD too much ... I feel that the torque biased one is the better choice.

Cheers

Marcus,

The Sport 300 has a Torsen torque biasing (geared) limited slip differential.

The USA only X180-R from '91 had the ZF friction (clutch) type limited slip differential.

The friction type differential is good for racing, because it can easily be rebuilt and it will transfer power even if one wheel is off the ground. I can tell you that the X180-R LSD has a great amount of fine control and makes it very easy to rotate the rear of the car with a small amount of wheel slip.

The geared Quaife/Torsen diffs will not transfer power to the other wheel if one wheel has no back torque.
