Steering????

Hi guys, my friend has lent me his '87 turbo for the weekend, but the steering does not seem right to me? I adjusted the tyre pressures to the reccomended 1.5 /1.7 bar for the 65 profile tyres as reccomended, but the steering seems really stiff, notchy, heavy, no feel whatsoever at low speeds? Is that normal?

That model doesn't have power steering, so heavy at low speeds, loosens up the faster you go, until it becomes perfect.
Power steering was first introduced on the S4 in 1993
