Duty to the public
Discussion
Yesterday, I asked a stranger if I could see the engine in his Mazda RX. My wife asked if I knew the man and when I said "No" she said:"Well what if he said you couldn't see it ?"
I replied that in my opinion, if you own a special car, you must be prepared to discuss it with people and, within reason, indulge their interest. In my opinion,as drivers of such an interesting vehicle, we have a duty to any members of the publc who are interested to indulge their interest. When the day comes that I won't take the time to discuss the Esprit with a stranger, or, for that matter, give them the ride of their life, then the day has come that I am no longer worthy. (And Hell will freeze over !!!)

Agreed.
There have times when people driving by my house would see the Esprit because my garage door was open and they'd slow down or stop to look at it. Several times I've invited them to come in to take a look and even sit in the car. I've been surprised how many people know what an Esprit is (even kids under 13), but rarely do they know about the engine or have any idea what the interior looks like.
The most amusing episode I've experienced was at an All-British Field Meet when an older couple was looking at my Esprit and the rear hatch was up. The lady looked at the engine cover and made a remark to her husband about "the stereo system", at which point I quickly unlatched and raised it to expose the engine. She was shocked!
