I'd like to get some wider tires for my wheels (OEM S4) but given their width (7, 8.5") the widest rubber I can fit are 225s and 255s respectively.

Problem is, no one makes a 225-40-17 which would come very close to retaining the stock diameter.

That said, I'm considering running a 225-45 in the front and a 255-45 in the rear. This will increase the front diameter by over an INCH but only by about .3 inches in the rear.

Will this look wacky, ride wacky, or otherwise be a bad idea?

Lucas.

do they make 225/35 17. it will reduce the diameter by a little but that will only keep the nose a little closer to the ground, effectively increasing the griound effect! or something, anyway...

I foud a 225/35 (Falken) and a 225/40 (Nitto) but both, besides being less than great tires, are not rated for anything less than a 7.5 inch rim.

I ordered some Goodyear F1s in 225/45 and 255/45.
