Discussion
Hey all, I'm a mechanical engineering student at UVM, looking to get into the autocross/track scene around here. I've mainly been a motorcycle guy, but with a friend buying an E36 m3, I gotto keep up and for fun go track with my good buddies. As a result, I think a 88-91ish Esprit would do me well. I love working on anything with a motor, so I figured a rebuild guide and 15 grand would do me well in this aspect. Before I go for a purchase though, I was wondering where one will order parts when things go badly?
Thanks all.
Thanks all.
JAE gets my vote.
There are several independent dealers here in the states and you can always order through the Lotus dealers. Generally speaking parts for the SE and later models are not hard to get and there are quite a few cross references for belts, hoses, vacuum pumps, alternators, etc.
Good luck in your search.
Be sure to check out the Esprit Fact File.

Oh and 15K might get you in the door but I doubt you will find a well sorted example at that price. If you do, plan on dropping another 3-5k getting it in shape or even more if you're going to track it.
Cheers,
Jim
