You can get all the filters from many brands at just about any auto parts stores here. Are you in the USA?

Purolator Pure One PL20081 or equal. You can cross match it from this number. I saw a cutway cross section of this filter and liked it. Found in many autoparts stores nationwide. For oil use Mobil one 15-50 or Castrol Syntec 5-50. To remove the filter if it is stuck I use a small strap wrench like the ones made out or rubber found at Sears.
Good luck.

I use a straight 50 oil (Castrol GP 50)seems to reduce the amount of oil escaping the breather..

You have oil escaping the breather? How much? I don't have much problems with this one. I have a tendency to meet or exceed specifications. They say to use 20-50. Not sure exactly what the ramifications that using just 50 would do. I suppose it would be okay as long as you live in a temperate climate so the oil could start flowing. Some oil passages are very small and may not get flowing right away like the turbo bearings. I like to get the oil flowing right away and will probably add an accumilator this year.

adding an accumulator myself... as for how much oil... enough that I notice (more when I drive at 5000+rpm so often!).

straight 50 oil is no problem.... especially as it is the multi-grade additives (allowing the gap between say 15W and 50 in the 15w-50 oil) that tend to be volatile and evaporate off...
