painting engine bay .. with what paint

Gday all
Another question for u gurus

My 87 s3 ... had some of the aluminium foil come apart in the engine box ..if that is the terminology...
I got some more aluminium foil (kitchen stuff).. glued it to the wooden ply box...where needed..
Now my question ... what do i paint it with ?
I have been told to try some of the "sound deadner" paint that they paint the undersides of cars with...
Is that ok ..from what i believe it is pretty bitumas stuff..
Will the heat from engine effect it ?
All ideas welcomed boys......
Will the stuff recomended .... adhere to the aluminium foil
