My engine's moving around a bit - I can here it clonk when I accelerate and decellerate.

How many engine mounts are there on the v8? I've found the 2 either side about half way along the block - they looked perished - is this likely on a 4/5 year old low mileage v8?

On one of them the bolts that attach them to the space frame were relatively loose {you could twiddle them with your fingers} so I'm wondering if it may just be this that's causing my clonking. I've tightened this, but unfortunately the car's off the road at the mo so I cant test it to see.

It seems odd that the whole engine is held in by only 2 mounts plus the 2 on the gear box. Is there a stabalizer bar or anything like that?

==========

Should I need to change them, how changeable are they without pulling the engine, in the most part they look accessible though a couple of bolts tricky to get a one end?

Fanx guys

Yes, there are two mounts on the engine and two on the gearbox, that's all. Make certain all of the mounting bolts are good and snug. Each mount has two smaller bolts and lock-nuts securing them to the frame. Also, on the engine mounts, ensure they are in good shape and properly assembled as there are special buffer washers on top and bottom and the long cap-bolt and lock-nut also need to be good and sung. The left mount takes the brunt of hard acceleration and it is normal to get some popping sounds during hard shifts on hard accelerations. This is caused by the buffer washer hitting the mount shell. As for them being shot... depends on how badly the previous owner treated it... if they did a lot hole shots and such, you might have bad mounts.
