Who has upgraded/modified an SE or similar to the newer short/shift cables (S4S and up). What were your experiences? Better feel? Easy to convert? Please let me know.

I think I have heard Tim Engel telling of flipping the translator upside down to modify the throw shorter than stock. I will inquire the next time I see him.

I read the procedure for doing this revision and it sounded pretty simple. EXCEPT, for the part of adjusting the cable lengths to make the gears shift, ie., making the whole thing work. And when taking off the cover of the shifter, I looked and could not find any screws under the strap to remove the console top.

What am I missing here? Maybe I will have Star Motors do it when I take it in for the C service.

The fliping the cables on the translator and the related adjustments are at the rear of the car under the trunk floor. I noticed you posted about taking the car to Wally at Star Motors for C service. I think a pal of mine Sean Ruckel knows him and he might have bought his 97 from him. Do you normally send your car out for service? Are you going to attempt this mod yourself? We will stand by to help if assistance is required. A few of us has already done this proceedure.
