gearbox hc turbo please help

hi my gearbox has broken on my esprit turbo hc 1987, some dealers are giving me some crazy prices like £2000 second hand and i am starting to lose sleep in the nights, has anyone fitted a gearbox from a renault 25 to an esprit has i have been told that the gear ratios are the same and that apparently the box is what lotus used on these cars, if so then i would be able to get one a lot cheaper and i could get some sleep in the nights, not sure if there are any alterations that would have to be carried out such as gear linkages etc , hope someone can help out there as i am starting to get a little desperate,

Go to the top right corner where it
say "search". Click on it. Then input
"Renault 25 gearbox". It will list
prior discussions. The 5th one down
"esprit gearbox" has all your possible
questions since this was discussed in
depth before.

You have to be in espritfactfile, not
pistonheads or other links.

I forgot to mention to also select the
"lotus>esprit" and the "all dates"
selections.
