Sport 300 vs S2 Exige
Discussion
Finally tried the S2 Exige last week - awesome car, can't get my head round the price at 35k though.
Ruled out the V8 Esprit but wonder if anyone has a Sport 300 out there, it was always my aim to eventually own one of those beauties.Or is the Exige a far better proposition? (second hand of course)

Having driven both IMO the tweaks on the S300 do add up. Everything is just that bit sharper, largely thanks to the lighter shell (lightest of the Stevens?) and stiffer chassis. It really is focussed and does have exactly the same feel as a race car.
On the other hand parts are harder to come by (shocks, fuel pump, rear tyres etc.) and I'd be constantly aware it's a rare car. Not much choice either when they do come up for sale.
I'd probably have an S4s, but be waiting for a mint S300 to come up

ajax317 said:FWIW, Lotus claimed fully 1/3 improvement in chassis stiffness on the S300 between the gearshift hole plate (in US S4s after SN 63040 or so, not sure about UK) and the engine bay brace. Jeff @ JAE told me that he chatted with one of the lead engineers (Roger something?) and his "eyes lit up" discussing that brace. Pity it didn't make it into the S4s.
