I have just bought a 1988 (Stevens shape) Esprit Turbo.

The exhaust needs replacing, and I want to fit a stainless steel systen.

I would like to fit one with outlet pipes at either side of the bumper.

To date the only one I can find is the Stebro system (from the USA) which looks excellent quality (see www.black89lotus.com). Only problem is the nearest distributor for me in the UK seems to be in Switzerland. Price including shipping comes in at 960 Euros.

Does anybody know of any other systems which would fit the bill, and are more readily available (and/or cheaper?) in the United Kingdom ?

Many thanks for reading this.

Hi Colin,

I also have a 89 Turbo and am looking into this exhaust problem. I have spoken to Blue Flame in lancashire. They can make a custom system for our type of car with a twin outlet in stainless steel for about £350 ish. However they need a car for a day. I am hopefully going to be modifying my rear valance over the winter (as per tony's site) and taking it up to have done. I think once they have made one they have a pattern and can make more. We may get a discount if a few people are interested.

Hope this helps. If you want the number for blue flame let me know as it is at my office.

Thanks for the reply Alan, much appreciated.

I would certainly be interested in the Blue Flame system, but time is of the essence for me now, as I don't think the exhaust on mine will hold together much longer!

I ran the movies of Tony's car in action from his website, and I am a little worried that the Stebro system might be a bit 'raucous' for my tastes.

So I would also be interested to hear from anyone who has fitted a Stebro as to their day-to-day experiences with it.

Thanks again.

Colin

Any high quality exhaust shop should be able to custom make anything you want.

I think someone on the yahoo group had an exhaust done by blue flame. They might be able to comment on the sound. I'll post the name and number for you to give them a ring. You might want to ask on the yahoo site. Perhaps Dermot or Rob might be able to help??
