Hello,

One of the things, I wanted to change from the beginning when I bought the car more than 4 years ago, was the wood dashboard. But in the past it was a horror for me, to think about removing the binnancle.

The must to do came, when in the last months 2 instrument light bulbs broke down. To change them, you must remove the binnancle and with the nice report on Katos site it wasn't a big problem at all. After 15 minutes the job was done. To change the bulbs it took a little bit longer and than I removed the 3 pieces of the dashboard.

I like the brushed aluminium dashboard-look you can find for example in an AC Cobra. I didn't find anybody who could build me the three parts of the dashbord in aluminium, lasercutted and brushed and for a good price. So I was looking for an alternative. I found it in a shop for fair-construction. It's a high quality, thick "tape" which has 3 layers: 1. clear, 2. metal, 3. adhesive surface. It was a little bit difficult to use, because of the thickness it's not easy to glue it over curves and corners.
I'm very happy with the result. The quality of the tape is excellent and the finish looks in a high quality. I hope I can put all together next weekend.

Glad that guide helped Stephan,
Nice to have helped someone.

Good idea what you have done too. that wood dash set is over £600 from lotus, they are currently having a factory clearout and the set is now £147 should anyone need one
Still a lot for what it is!

Hello again,

Thank you all for your replies on this forum and in my private mailbox. Today I can show you the pictures of the complete assembled binnancle. I also coloured the two plastic parts on the top in silver which gives it a higher quality and a nice material-mix look. Today I reinstalled the binnancle back in the car. The result fulfils all my expectations. Unfortunately I could'nt make some pictures of the whole interieur. To do this, I have to drive the car out of my garage. I will do this later, because with storm and snow the weather is nothing for dogs especially not for the Esprit!

Jim,

It's a Kodak product, named Kodak professional. Have a look at a professional fair-built-company or lettering-shop (for cars, vans, shops etc.) in your near and ask them. My shop sells it from a 90 cm wide roll and 1 m cost ca. 25 Euro.

Top job Stephan, really looks the part! I will have to follow suit one day. Do you have the details where I can buy this product from? Must have this...

Does anyone know of any alternatives for the A/C Fan Control Trim Plate on the Center Console?

hi,

with regards to the question about a replacement for the heater control panel, we are just in the process of developing a replacement for this in carbon fibre which will be avaliable in a variety of colours. On that note i will also mention that we shall also have carbon sills and harness rail for the esprit so as you may put four points in (which i already have done on my esprit)We are hoping these will all be done for donington so as people may see them in the flesh. You may keep updated on my site at
www.toyz-in-the-hood.co.uk. There will also be more stock being added soon.
