Hello,

I am driving my 1991 Lotus esprit across the country.

I will drive to where ever there is a lotus guru that wants to make some extra money making this car perfect

It dont need a lot, but I wanna make it right. and I will pay cash and drive to where you are if you are interested in working on the car. I can help, I am a decent mechanic, I just dont know alot about this car

PLEASE E-MAIL ME SO I CAN GET THE MESSAGE RIGHT AWAY

GEO_ALLINO@YAHOO.COM

if you write me back I can call you and we can talk about it, and I can drive to where you are.

I could use the help. thanks. Hopefully there is someone that likes and knows this car and wants to make some cash, just be reasonable and fair.

Geo...

Obviously you have some problems with a new purchase. Would you like me to consolidate all of your "help needed" posts into one?

Also, it would probably get more responses if you listed the general area of the country that you are in as "Southwest US" is a big place.

George,

In this and other posts, you stated that you are a fairly good mechanic. That being the case, get a set of service manuals and study them.

Despite what many people think, there's nothing particularly difficult or mystical about working on a 9XX engine. The mechanics, being race bred, are extremely straight forward. Once you've got the engine out on a stand, it's just any old chevy or ford. If you've rebuilt any engine before, the Lotus engine won't present too many challenges.

The greatest difficulties lie in the poor access when the engine is in place and a couple of useful, but not absolutely necessary, special tools. The wiring can be a pain and the ECU has a few quirks, but other than that, it easier to work on than many engines I have experience on.
Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE

I am hearing a lot of wise advice. I am in the process of buying manuals,. The problem is I am on the road. If I was home it would be different, I dont think it will make it the whole way.
that is why I was asking for a mechanic that needs some work, I will drive to him. :-)

A motor is a motor and a transmission is a transmission, etc etc. YEs, some cars, including the Lotus have quirks but in th eend it is just a car. If you are mechanical in any way, you'll be ok. If you need manuals, contact me offline through email. Address is in my profile. if you are on the road anywhere near New Jersey, stop on by. I will offer any help I can. Your cost is to buy me a beer afterwards.
