just a poll. where is everyone locating the not so optional accessories for their esprits: fire extinguisher, sensible sized tire iron, etc. i stuck a 14" T iron under the passenger seat, and mounted the fire extinguisher just forward the passenger seat. it's bolted through the floormat perpendicular to where the passenger's legs would situate. i cut an aluminum floorboard that nestles across the seat mounts requiring no modification to the body. both the tireiron and extingisher clips are secured to the aluminum. it isn't perfect, but far better than the way lotus engineers think. on my G vehicle, the spare tire doesn't line up with the mounting hardware if inflated to specs; and there is no way to stow the jack without scratching up the bonnet liner. i wonder why they didn't make a form fitting indent for the jack. better stop now, while this is still a short story.

removed spare tire in lieu of a fix-a-flat compressor kit (same as came OEM in my old vet.. saves weight and sapce), as well as a tool kit (pretty big one) secured by a cargo net. Then I mounted the fire extinguieher next to it. All fits nice in the front bonet.

sounds clean. i think you may want the extinguisher closer to you, but hopefully the occasion will never come up. as for the spare tire, crash test dummies have told me, it cushions the impact in front collisions. i am dubious, but keep the spare because i like the extra weight over the front wheels. out of curiosity, i will look into the fix-a-flat system, which is optimal, assuming the blown tire is mostly intact. thanks for the input.

Heh

Reminds me of the time i kept mine under the front bonnet/hood...

I got in my garage and started the car, being as it had been sat for a couple of weeks i was letting it run for ten minutes or so.

So, i'm stood having a cigarette with the car running in the garage (rear facing outwards) and theres a sudden smoking comming from the engine bay, accompanied with the smell of burning!!!

Panic, Panic!!,
I go INTO the garage, then INTO my car to turn off the ignition and release the bonnet/hood, then INTO the front to get the extiguisher out. All the time fearful the thing would just go up in flames trapping me in the back of my garage

Turns out...
Just as it was getting nicely up to temprature, the cooland hose had popped off the head and sprayed all the coolant onto the manifold.
NO fire!, but enough smoke and panic to leave me running about like a headless chicken!

Today my extinguisher is in the cabin, between the seats, very obvious and very easy to get to...

Hi I have the fire extinguisher mounted under the drivers seat. The other half fabricated a bracket for it which is secured to the seat mounts. The 6 CD stacker is bolted behind the passenger seat. Spare oils etc in the front boot. Spare tools in the rear. Chilled wine/beer travels in the front for obvious reasons

What's the point of having a spare tire if there's no place to put the flat tire and wheel? Mine is removed.

Fix a flat and fire extinguisher are in the glove box ...my early S4 has a gove box, yeah!

Extra oil and coolent are in a plactic box in the rear.

Luke.

i assumed the bad tire went in the passenger seat. if the tire is destroyed, the rim would fit in the "dare i call it a boot". i like the chilled wine/beer idea. is the condensation ever a problem? i bet you could use the engine compartment and a foil bag to keep parts of your meal hot.
