My manual says that the sump capacity is 6.5L (11.4 pints) from dry, or 5.0L (8.8 pints) on a refill, both including filter. Difference between high and low dipstick marks is 1L.
There may well be a specific procedure for checking (eg within a short period after switching engine off), but I can't find it at present.
You could always drains and refill from scratch, then you'd know it was right...

"Check the oil level in the catch tank at the r/h side of the engine bay within 2 minutes of switching off. Oil will drain back from the tank into the sump when left standing and if the level is checked before the scavenge pumps have returned this oil to the tank, overfilling will result."
