Alright this may sound like a rookie question because it probably is. What is a 2000 Esprit redlied at? There are no markers on tach. I have only had my Espirt (the first one I have owned) for about a month and have never asked this question. Forgive me in advance for my rookieness

Interesting thread,
I was once told by a Lotus engineer that the valvetrain and reciprocating gear is capable of spinning upwards of 9k RPM, but the engine is limited by the maximum rotational speed of the ancillaries.
I bet you could easily install an adjustable rev limiter and raise the max RPMs slightly. Then again, I suspect that a Dyno graph would indicate that you had already peaked the engine's output, so you wouldn't realize any true benefit anyway. Never Mind...
