I just had my timing belt replaced, and of course, they had to drain the cooling system to get the job done. I think that there is air trapped in the system because since I got the car back from the shop I now hear a girgling sound from time to time. I also notice that the temp gauge will sometimes take a rapid jump to about 100 degrees, and then drop back to normal again.

The shop did their best to get the air out using the purge valve on the top of the radiator. I have checked it a couple of times myself, and I no longer get any air out of that valve -- just coolant. And the girgling and (short term)overheating continues.

Are there any other tricks to get more air out of the system that I am not aware of???

Thanks

I forgot to mention that my car is a '91 SE, which has a separate cooling system for the charge cooler.

You have to jack the front of the car up?
Do you need step by step details?

No. I think I got the picture.

I had the right idea -- just the wrong end of the car. I was trying to burp it toward the header tank.

Thanks, Bud!
