i'm trying to fit brit plates to my U.S. model esprit. could someone describe to me the location of the mounting screws for U.K. models? i'm fabricating a custom bracket for the job, and would like to be authentic to stock. thanks.

yes, but where are those screws located? i'm making a bracket so as not to drill more holes into the U.S. bumper.

On mine both the front and rear plates are stuck on with very thick double sided tape. When I changed the number plates a few months ago I had a right job getting the old one off !! No screws you see.

Yep, they's stuck on with Gods own glue!
When i finally managed to get the rear one off, i found it was stuck to an older plate still! (that was EVEN harder to pull off, hence they gave up!).

I got the front one off with a stanley knife but you can't get the blade behind the rear one. Thankfully, the rear plinth is held on with two self-tappers so when I removed those I could cut the sticky stuff off. I remember thinking at the time : "Getting the new number from the DVLA was easy, getting the paperwork done at the DVLA center was easy, getting the plates made at Halfords was easy... and now I can't get the bloody old plates off the car !!!"

Hi teigan,
There actually is a front-plate-holding-bracket available from Lotus. Its an angled plastic piece that gets fixed with two screws to the top inner side of the front bumper. There is a pic in the service note on page 10.23A

thanks marcus. i'll use that part for design ideas. i'm really good at shaping/welding alluminum , so i'll be making my own. i didn't relaise so many people were going the adhesive route. the story about pasting new plates over the old ones is priceless.
