Hi all, just bought a 2000 Esprit and noticed a knocking noise coming from (it seems like) behing the driver's seat every time I hit a bump. I Talked to some who works on Esprits and they said it might be some hoses between the engine compartment and back wall behind the drivers seat that ahve come loose. Has anybody experienced this problem and could that be it? Any help would be appreciated, the sound is driving me nuts.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
What you are experiencing is the sound a slightly loose firewall produces (= is made of plywood and tends to shrink).
First try to tighten the four 13mm nuts (you will find them in the engine bay). If it does not help you have to remove the carpet behind your seats and take out the bolts+bracket and shorten the sleeve around the bolts by 2-4mm.

Cheers

First sorry about the spelling, I did make it through fifth grade english, just typing too fast. Not yet haven't had time, but where are the 13mm nuts located in the engine bay? If I have to take go to plan B (ie removing carpet, shortening the sleeve, etc...) I'll take it to the dealer, but I will try to tighten the 13mm bolts, just need to know where they are.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
The nuts are quite easy to spot ... they come as a pair (what else
Just look into your engine bay front side firewall and you will see two 13mm nuts sitting in one line horizontally (aproxx. 6cm apart). This equal arrangement is found on the left side and on the right side of the wall.
