Esprit S4 Rear Shocks... where to buy?

Heard a lot of comments about spax or other rear shocks for the Esprit. Any info on a part number (the lotus one don't help ) and where you can order them from? I heard that only available aftermarket, but how?

Call Jeff Robinson at JAE (www.JAEParts.com) for the Spax or stock Lotus shocks. JAE also has Leda shocks for the Esprit.

Thanks. I called them, they're busy and can't get me a price. I'm trying tnow to locate the OEM shocks part number so that I can try to cross ref. them at a local auto parts store.

I here the spax really suck from some of the topics I've read, including poor quality control and collapses...

The OEM shocks are going to be Lotus only. Ray at www.rdent.com is a very plesant fellow and carries the Spax. Probably get you the OEM too, I don't know, but I know he does carry the Spax.

I ordered my Spax kit from JAE LAST FEBRUARY (that would be 2004, if you're counting.)

I never got the shocks (actually they sent Elise shocks, which of course were the wrong thing.)

And I am still waiting for the spring perches to actually mount the new suspension parts.

JAE told me they sent the perches last week. Not arrived yet, and I'd actually been told that before, so I'm not holding my breath.

Sorry, it's a sore spot, but I PAID for these parts a year ago. JAE in essence cost me an entire year of driving, as my car sat disassembled at my mechanic's shop for the entire spring and part of the summer.

It should be in the shop for the winter, getting these parts installed, but no...still waiting on the parts.

Edited to add: BTW, this was not a special order job either...I called and asked them before I bought, and was told they had the kits on the shelf.

Wow.. I'll mention this to Jeff tomorrow. I've spent several thousand dollars with him in parts in the past week and he should be receptive.

Not that I'm trying to back them, but I've had nothing but positives so far, maybe a communication error. Hell. I bought a Motoconcept 330hp chip from them and was having wierd problems,.... overboost, crappy idle, hesitation.. Called them back and they sent me a new chip, got my old one, and credited my card back (at their expense for the new chip from motoconcept). I have had everything delivered on or earlier than promised and would recommend that you call Jeff and ask him personally what is going on. Jeff and Jay have been great to me and nothing but honest. I will be reserved in my Spax dealings and make sure to ask for a precise time frame (i need these as my esprit is my daily for now) and will mention your experience when ordering.

Don't bother mentioning my experience to them...it just makes them mad at me (as if any of this is my fault.)

I've talked to them plenty of times over the past year. It hasn't made my parts arrive.

My mechanic orders tens of thousands of dollars worth of parts from them every year. He's called them more times than I have about it. It hasn't made my parts arrive.

I understand there are plenty of love stories regarding JAE. I guess I should have had one of them order my parts for me.

Sorry, but it's no communication error. They just haven't sent me what I paid for, and I don't seem to be any sort of priority.
