Hi all,

Simple question I hope.

Does anyone actually know what the increments are supposed to represent on the boost gauge?? Obviously the top is 1.2 bar the rest are not split equally.

Cheers

Th boost gauge is highly inaccurate. i know the 1.0 is 1 bar, which is supposedly 14.5psi. i don't remember what the other marks are (ditched for a mech. autometer one). Don't use it for any type of accurate reading, however...

when the gauge is pegged then i am too busy keeping the car on the road to bother to understand if it is 1.1or 1.2..............
Engineering school taught us -- do not try to interpret a needle position between ticks on a gauge.. just pick the nearest tick and that is what you can take based on the accuracy of the gauge.
if Lotus has only 3 ticks you can be at half bar or one bar.. ( or zero )if you want the decimal points then you need a different gauge.

What would be best then, A mechanical analogue gauge or a digital one. Also does it matter how I fit it???

it's a matter of preference. Personally, I like full-sweep analog better than cyberdyne. The eye (at least mine!) seems to be able to situate things better on a gauge with an arm than having to see a number and then try to figure out what that number means. Also, if you get a 2-1/16" gauge, it should fit in the stock boost gauge's location. I bought a Z-series from Autometer, full face 30mmHG-20psi gauge and it fit like a charm. TO install it, simply connect the bulb to the oem bulb wires and run a vacuum wire to the engine. I teed off of the hard plastic MAP sensor line. it's not the best pic, but:

hope it helps.

excellent thanks for that. Will have to see what I can find the right size. Did you run the vacuum pipe through the sill???

Cheers
