S4S fender flairs?

Why do some S4S’s come with the fender flairs added to the wheel wells and some don’t? Is it due to model year or option package…? Can you still get them? Price and supplier?

Thx Again Dan

P.S. I am finding it takes a lot of research to find and get the right car, thank you all for the help.

The UK has different holomogation requirements from some other countries including the USA. Like the wheels clearences in the wheel wells. Could be some models of the S4s were destined for a different country or brought in to the USA.

You can get flares from places like SJ. But you don't really need the flares unless you have a good reason like trying to merge them into a sport 300 type air dam or something like it.

From what I have noticed, it seems that only the US S4s's came without the flares. Also, the US S4s Futura wheels are much smaller than the Futura wheels on the UK and Aust S4s's. I think in the UK too, but definetely in Aust, all S4s cars have the Futura wheels, the same size as the ones on the US V8s.

I think that is information correct, I'm not sure if the wheel sizes are different though. Many countries require a certain clearance distance from the tire to wheel well or the fender lip to cover a certain area of the tire. I know of owners of SE/S4/S4s with 18" wheels on the rears and 17" on the fronts. So they do fit the V8 wheels and tires although it would seem that they will not pass the clearance requirements on some countries. We in the US are fortunate not to have such restrictions.

The non-USA S4s cars had much wider tires, 285 vs 245 back and 235 vs 215 front, which required the fender flares. Why different sizes for
different markets? Who knows.

That is what I meant to talk about - the width of the wheels, not their diameter :-)
