"Pre Production" Harness

Perhaps someone can shed light on this 1989 s/n 2506.

When you remove the relay box cover in the boot a little green tag on the harness is labelled "Newcastle Pre Production". The label is a green pvc type material. Also, the O2 sensor is labelled as "experimental". Other components and wire bits on the engine and under dash have similar markings.

Any thoughts as to why a "production" car would have these markings?
