Okay... the car now runs and drives, idles pretty smooth.. wipers work... horn works... turns work.... alarm works... god I ut a lot of work into this car.... my LAST question guys, I promise. Thanks all of you for your immense help in the process of getting my second Esprit in tip-top again... (took a lot longer than my old SE... sheesh)

Anyway, I've got a 95 S4 and the red race ECU from JAE. Also the K&N and clutch line from them (if it matters) and a Flowmaster exhaust (camaro-style 80 series pipe... free-flowing, but kept the cat... i don't want to sound like a Honda...)

I had the chip holder soldered in at a shop, (tested for continuity, excellent install), inserted the chip, started the car, let it run for 15 minutes at idle. Then I took it for a 20 minute run with no boost. After that, I've been trying to get it to boost and I peg out at 8psi. (accurate aftermarket boost gauge installed). I've driven about 70 miles now, and I still peg out at 8psi. The car runs and drives great (it did kill twice, however in the process, and different times when I was coming to a stop, but started right back up)... Any ideas why I can't boost to my 1.2 bar?

Thanks, what can I do to fix whatver problem I may have?

I had a similar thing on my S4s and someone suggested the following procedure (which did the trick for me). I think they said it was something to do with the ECM and the TPS but I can't recall exactly!

Reset the ECM
Turn ignition on but don't start the engine
Push accelerator all the way down and release
turn ignition off
start the car

Only other thing I can think of is you don't really have a race red chip!

rjjuge.

A Freescan log file showing the problem is the way to proceed next.

Rob:

Two things. First check to see if you exhaust bypass vlave is opening. This is the flapper valve just aft of the catalytic converter. Set it to the open position with the set screw. If it's not opening (like mine wasn't on my SE) you'll not get full power as its not letting the car breath.

Second, pull the fuse for the ECU and let it set overnight to reset the ECU.
