Hi guys,

I have a year 2000 v8 GT and have this really irritating high pitch noise that eminates just from behind my right ear (RHD Vehicle). It's electrical, kinda sounds like a fuel pump or something and is so high pitched that you can only just hear it, but it kinda hurts your brain

Any ideas what the likely cause is?

Umm, just a wild guess, The Fuel Pump?

Don't know about yours, but mine is a GM part that cost about eighty American Dollars, fits a Buick and is available at about any auto parts store.

They start making noise just before they go out.

This is a longshot because it is very high pitched, but some people can hear it. Could it be the ultrasonic sensor for the alarm? I'm assuming they still installed them on the V8s.

My S4S isn't around at the moment for me to have a look, but I seem to recall there being a circular opening in the modules (just above and behind you're head, in both corners) that you can easily cover with your thumb and see if the noise goes away or changes.

I don't know if the ultrasonics are always on or just when the alarm is set...maybe someone else knows.

Yup, it's defo the fuel pump. I've had a bit of plastic tube with one end connected to me lug ole and the other end on the lid where the fuel pump hides and the noise is definately coming from that.

Anyone any tips for making it easier to get at for removal? Or is it just a case of having 'Lotus Designed' long bendy arms?
