I refuse to pay $500 for a wiper motor. Has anyone found a suitable replacement? Or a rebuild kit or rebuilder in the U.S.?

The car is a 95 s4.

I have a report that G bodies use a TR7 wiper motor. You might look at one of those and see if it looks similar.

You can have them rebuilt at basically any decent electrical motor repair shop. Call around, you'll find one and it'll probably be around $60.

think i found one available at any auto parts store that will fit with some fabbing (a die grinder, some solder, some threading, etc..) for under $200 for a brand new motor...

If anyone's interested, I can tell you what I did (if it's successful tomorrow. and can even build one for you for a small fee..

It's from a European car (left hand drive). The Stevens wiper motor is not from a TR7 but from another car. The easiest solution is to get it rebuilt.

Yeah, we're interested. Tell us what you did, parts used, what exact car to ask for (year, model), etc. Let us know. Sounds about like the Bosch alternator mod. Also, how bad was the R&R process? Some have said that they put the wiper motor in first and built the car around it. Dave, any idea what car the original came from?

Hi,

I have replaced my wiper motor with a Honda Civic. My mechanic only need to alter the housing to fit it in & that only cost much cheaper than a Lotus unit. Cheers

cool. my mod worked. My first contribution to the forum!

Autozone #204105 (sn 43-1057) import wiper motor. Lists for $79.99 w/. a $10 core charge. I had to shave the mounting pegs about 1/8" to match up right, but it even mounted using factory holes. I attached male spade connectors to the plugs and voila. I now have a wiper for under $100.
