Hi: This is my first post, so bear with a newbie....what are the known ways of improving the handling of the early Esprits? Are better sway bars available, shocks, etc. And what are the tires of choice?

Thanks,
Marty

I would avoid the temptation to fit stiffer springs and sway bars. Mine used to have stiffer springs and just bounced around. A change back to standard improved things.

Probably the best option will be to fit quality items to original specifications.

Tyres will depend on the climate where you live. Good quality directional tyres.

Hey Marty,

Happy holidays.

I've been through the handling issue with my 78 S1. You might have someone take a peek at the rack and pinion. Rebuilding mine made a world of difference; JAE had the kit. New tread (with a bigger front footprint) made an equally noticable difference in handling.

Here's a link to my homepage that has all the details of these repairs and upgrades: http://mysite.verizon.net/res6zvot/

Good luck,
