My 94 s4 has just packed up in a weird way as i accelerated the back wheels spun causing the car to bounce,It then promptly cut out and wont go again it tried for a bit but now wont fire at all leading me to believe i had run out of fuel,i have now topped it up and still no joy i am suspecting i may have triggered the inertia switch.Which leads on to my handbook shows it to be in the boot where the relay box is but on my car there is no relay box or inertia switch there does anyone know its location on this yeaar of s4
Many thanks Matt

The box is under the carpet in the rear. Pull your carpet down, and you'll find a panel. The panel should have a hole in it for reseting the switch, but, if not you should be able to remove the panel with 5 or 6 screws.

Matt,

I believe your inertia switch should be located in the front right corner of the engine bay right behind the rear glass....

Matt, there was a change in the wiring harness early in the S4 production. If there is a relay box next to the battery on the right wheel arch then it's the revised harness with the inertia switch where JK said. Look near the fuel filter.

Thanks JK and Dan i have just been to the car and you were right it was at the front of the engine bay on the bukhead ,pressed it and away she went its cost me a full day toing and froing to the car and putting more and more petrol in convinced the pump wasnt picking up as there was a wirring of a pump where the relay box used to be positioned.By the way what is that pump? looks like a vacuum pump of some sort

Matt,

You are correct, that is the vacuum pump for the EBPV, the throttle jack for cold idle and ac/heater vents.
