access to tranny on S3 turbo
Discussion
hi,
I saw some pics where all the trunk carpetig was removed and bellhosing, turbo, tranny were clearly visable. Would it be fine to drive like that or would there be a problem with water getting into places. If i do get mine soon, i would drive like to drive like that. I don't need a trunk and the extra engine access space would let me sleep better at night.

Although you could remove some of the floor (the floor is in two sections,) there is a section that the coil and (on the turbos) the timer circuit are integrated into that you couldn't remove without re-engineering placement of that. You would also have to run without the engine cover (assuming the S3 is similar to the turbo in that regard.) Also remember that the breaks are inboard, so you will be collecting break dust inside your trunk area as well.
Hi, I wouldn't do that at all. The turbo's rear louvres are designed to draw warm air out throught the engine cover. The forward edge of the boot floor is an integral part of the air flow dynamic. And with the overheating problems the car already suffers this could be fatal in a drastic way, i.e. fireworks!!!
