Check Engine Light
Discussion
Hello from a new member.
Any way of resetting the check engine light, (97 V8), that came on this morning for no apparent reason? No apparent effect on the engine so I suspect a missed pulse from the O2 sensors. Had this problem before on a range Rover, more a nuisance than anything else. Thanks.

If the actual fault has cleared itself, the check engine light will go out in due course of its own accord. I think it takes 3 (?) ignition cycles before this happens. Your handbook covers this.
You can also clear the light by re-setting the ecu manually. This is just a case of disconnecting the battery or pulling the ecu fuse for a few seconds. This will clear any fault codes, but your engine may tick over erratically for the first 10-15 mins of driving after you do this as the ecu 'learns' the engine again.
cheers
