whats the fastest v8 tt
Discussion
At vmax i had consistent runs at 164mph thru the laser trap, thats on a 2 mile straight, car was still accelerating at that point so would have gone faster. Speedo was showing approx 175 at that point. To put it in perspective, that was faster than the noble gto-3r, maser 4200, ferrari 456, tvr t350, but no match for the tweaked porsches.. There's a thread on the vmax forum with all the speeds.
I fully expect that the car would run all the way to the red line in fifth (and i know at least one v8 owner who's done that) with a stock car, so you can work out the theoretical top speed based on the rev limit and gearing.
I'm too lazy to do the maths, but i'm sure someone else will Its probably somwhere between 170 and 180mph.

Ive hit an easy 150 mph in the S4, playing with a Toyota Supra, as he pulled over i was going to floor it suddenly the interior light came on, still dont know to this day why, it was about 2am so it made you jump abit....apart from seeing the miles rack up it was the wind noise that surprised me, sounded like a window was open, the car was rock steady on the road however & lane changing was no different to 80 mph.

Rock solid, lots of wind noise though
Splodge - the interior light coming on was probably the aero forces sucking the doors out slightly..
In answer to the thread topic, the fastest v8 will probably be Johan Hybinette's. 210 at bonneville?

Yup thought its something like that, nothing to worry about then....
Best bit of Esprit driving isnt really the top speed but how quick it is to 120 /130 mph, good fun.
I had an indicated 183mph (with just over 6800rpm showing) on a 'Boys Tour' through France a couple of years ago. It was a V8GT with rear wing, 350 ECU, no cats and straight through exhausts. It started to feel heavy around the 160 ish mark but very stable.
On the way back down there was a discernable wobble around 150mph that lasted for a few hundred yards. There wasn't any movement or shimmying, but almost as though you could feel the car moving around on it's springs and bushes. It didn't do it long enough for my brain to register that it was an issue. You can decide if that's says more about the car or me!!

If you're interested, I hovered around 150 mph three times now in my 87 HCI, G-type (4 cyl.). At appr. 140 mph, everything gets quiet, and it feels like the car is being sucked down on the road, like aerodynamic grip. When the speedo says 150, my car is still accelerating.
should read: "everything gets quiet" (not "quite")
