10.9 QM Esprit

The famous Hybinette V8 Esprit has posted a 10.9 second 1/4 mile time at Mile High National track. As well as some more individual modifications the wide-bodied car features Nitrous to help it on its way to a quoted 600bhp. A brief bio of the car can be seen at: http://www.teammeguiars.com/vcar_judge.asp?id=1296

Cor 10.9 for the quarter mile. I don't want to sound unimpressed but an equally Modified Toyota Starlet GT can manage it in 11 seconds! Why not just let the Esprit do what it does best, go round corners bloomin' quick!

Ahhh, but the difference between Johan's beast and a modded 'Yota is that this Esprit is a road track car that is also capable of 10 second times and approaches 200 MPH. The modded Toyota is pretty much good for 1 thing, quarter milers.

I think that the 10.9 second time is a fantastic feat for a car that is primarily intended for open road racing, not QM drag racing.

Thats a great time slip! That Esprit is some piece of work. I wonder what the gearing is? I have to check his site out, Extreme Esprit.

Not only that I think his car gets entered in the Silver State Challenge. Where the fastest cars goes 90 miles in under 30 minutes maybe somewhere around 28 minutes. I'm not sure what speed bracket he is in but I'm sure it is fast. Let's see a drag strip Toyota do that for 90 miles.
