Hey Guys and Gals,

Just wanted to see if there is any interest in a group buy for the front and rear crankshaft seal tools for the 910 engine.

As I understand it Lotus is not stocking these any longer and they are becoming unobtanium. If you do your own work on your car I can say from experience that these tools are invaluable to correctly install the oil seals. It can be done without them but the chances for an incorrect installation go way up and you won't know it until you re-assemble everything and run the car. Been there done that. Not to mention the fact that having done the seals with and without the tools it is many times easier with them.

I have had a prototype done of the rear tool in T6061 aluminum (a very nice piece) and am getting a quote now from the CNC people to make a batch and need to get an idea how many we might need.

Lotus prices are somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 each for the front/rear for a total of around $300 but as said previously they are hard to find as most of the suppliers no longer have any stock. I am hoping to get the price down around $100 each or maybe $175 for the set.

I already have commitments for several pieces so we will be proceeding shortly.

If you may be interested please email me with your intent.

Thanks for looking,

Jim Knowles

I think I may be interested as I am removing my engine this winter. I was planning on replacing the seals but didn't know that a special tool was required, never needed one before on other cars. Do you have any photos of what these tools look like.

Thanks
