As some of you know I have been going through a serious motor rebuild after one of my valves sheared three months ago.

Well we pulled the head off the car and found that a head from one of the valves had sheared clean off and then got pounded back into the seat of the head lodging it into the intake port Yes this looks terrible. I also ended up needing a new piston and liner since that one was beat to hell.

Good news is we found a 500 mile head that is brand new and got a good deal on a brand new piston and liner, so my car should be back up and running in a couple of weeks.

I have been without my esprit now since May 14th, and it has been driving me mad. I currently have the chasis minus motor and trans in my garage while my mechanic has been working on the motor at his shop.

I am going to get pictures of the damage for you as soon as possible. But the bright side is that I am not going to be losing my shirt in the rebuild.

I was seriously thinking about selling it a couple of weeks ago things looked so bleak but it seems things have taken a turn for the better.

Later,

It's about damn time!!! I know you've been chomping at the bit to get her back up and running. She's way too sexy a beast to be sitting in the garage. Great to hear you aren't going to lose your shirt on the deal. I know the numbers Jaime was flinging around, and they were causing my gut to cramp (and it's not even my car!)

The upshot is, once the work is done you'll have a fine Esprit in your hands, and you're going to love every minute of it. Give a call as soon as you get her on the road. We need to go for a drive!!!

Mike I actually posted this for you I wanted you to know I didnt die LOL.

I lost your phone number so if you wouldnt mind give me a call later to chat.

The car will be in much better shape then when I broke it.

I have completely polished the tube frame chasis in the engine compartment to look chrome. I am going to spray a clear coat over it to keep it from rusting. I am also getting the exhaust manifold jet hot coated this week. All in all the Esprit is going to be in much better shape then when it let go.

The motor has been gone over with a fine tooth comb, and we are probably just going to put a new clutch in it now since the trans is out.

Jamie is supposed to come over tonight, and we are going to start wrighting checks LOL.

Anyways give me a call tonight if you and I will give you the details and price of the cylinder head and piston/ sleeve set.

Dude, you suck. Now not only will I have trouble keeping up on runs, but your car will look so much better than mine! I can hear it now over introductions... "Hi, I'm Andy, and this is Mike. He drives that 'other' Esprit. You know, the old one."

No really, great news. Didn't read this post till this morning...will try and give you a call tonight.

Mike

BTW, had her up to about 133 Mph Sunday morning on the way to Dulles. My mom was in the car Slowly chipping away at the higher speeds. Much fun.

I think your car should be faster with the S4s chip and a T3/T4 turbo. And it's the nicest one I've seen in person! You two are certainly the Lotus pimp-daddies of the DC area.

Thanks for the compliments Mike but I am sure your car is quicker then mine. I just dropped my exhaust manifold off at Maryland Performance coatings and am getting it jet hot coated to keep the engine bay heat down, and I am going to port and polish the inlet and outlets on the intercooler. We'll see how much this will change probably improve power allittle.

Anyways I cant wait to meet up with you Mike when the cars all done so we can get those pics we have been wanting to get for soo long.

133mph Man thats hillarious And with your Mom no less I have only had mine up to about 120 I think. Thats cool I am glad you are loving your dream car Mike!

That's true Mike, but I drive like a girl!

Imagine me and Andy, the DC area pimp daddies. Both cars are looking mighty fine, but Andy's is slightly more pimp with the great tint job he has. I guess I'll be Pooty Tang, and you can be Dolemite.

By the way, the Zaino job you guys did is holding up fantastically well. I've been caught in the rain twice now. Both times I just went home, shammied it, and it looks stellar still. I need to give her a wash and some more coats next weekend though. I'm telling you, bugs have no prayer against this car. Each time I go out, I come back with a well stocked insect cemetary on the nose and the side mirrors.

BTW, the previous 130 run was done on highway 5 heading down to Solomon's Island. Was a bit scary. This new 133 run was done on the beltway down around route 50 and 66 area. Smooth as glass. Had Mom not chickened out, I was going for 140 right then and there

Oh, and from the sounds of it Mike, you won't be seeing an empty garage at Frank in the near future. I can only imagine how cherry, and pimp, that car is gonna be after he's had it for about 6 months!

Whew, glad things are looking on the brighter side for you Andy. I just got back from another vacation in the Philippines again. Boy, married life is a blast and she loves the Esprit. It should be fun for my wife to experience given that she is accustomed to tricycles and jeepneys. My carbon lip spoilers are coming today. Also, the T3/T4 Turbonetics is working great! The Nology wires fit perfect and the car is purring more smoother than ever before. All I have to do now is get the Godzilla bypass installed and the car should be even more enjoyable to drive.

Andy, while your car is still down, think about upgrading all your brake lines and such. Get everything from Dave Bean, ask for Tom. For fluid, I am using the Motul 600F. It works great, I think? If you plan on changing your seats, I can make a set of brackets for Sparco 951. This will lighten your car trememdously and it bolts in to your stock brackets.

Cheers my friend,
Dindo

True. As far as I can tell, he just can't help himself. He just makes up ways to spend money on the car. In ReallyQuickChainSmokingFrankVoice: "MIKE, what do you think about the S4s antenna? Is it to poseur? Should I put one on? I like it. Didja see the carbon fiber dash? Ralph worked his ASS off on it. I'm thinking about the Curtis wing." and so on. :-)

Sorry Dindo I did not see your post until today!

Man thats awesome tones of great stuff.

Right now these are the things that I could afford to do while the motor was out.

Port and then Jet Hot Coat the Exhaust manifold which turned out awesome!

I Ported and Polished the Intake Manifold which should show some nice gains, baing that it was like Sand paper inside the runners. I port matched the throttle bodies to the inlet manifold and then polished the runners to a mirror shine. Turned out better then I expected actualy.

And I am debating on red powder coating all of the red engine peices since mine are fading to that gross orange color LOL.

Dindo I want those Nology Wires! Please Email me at lotuss4driver@hotmail.com with details O.K.

Unfortunatly I dont have money for anything else right now but in about two months I should be back on track.

I am going to get you picks of the chasis, and inlet manifold as soon as I get them on my website. I was dieing for my chasis to match those shiny HRE's.

Anyways thanks a ton for all the info Dindo I will get ahold of you soon!

Mikey I cant wait to meet you guys! I am assumeing you are in the D.C. area?
