I've always had water puddled in the headlights, and can't tell if there's a drain plug that's clogged or not. Please help.

There is a drain hole in each pod which tends to get clogged with debris over time. It is in the bottom of the pod pretty much in the center. With the light housing up, carefully probe with something like a coat hanger until you find the hole and that should clear it out.

Cheers,
Jim

I had one pod always full of water and noone ever told me about the drain hole, and I would always spend ages after washing the car using two rolls of paper towel to suck all the water out

I was so happy when I found out about the drain hole!

If you undo the last rod in the mechanism from the motor to the pod the pods lift up a substantial distance and it makes it easy to give the whole area a good clean out. Just takes a 10mm spanner and about 5 mins with no risks of damaging the paintwork in front of the pod with a coat hanger!
