Great article on these 2 cars. I didn't realise how expensive the 350 was to maintain and service....clutch £1100, brake discs £1600 a pair ! Makes the 355 look positively cheap by comparison

Those must be dealer prices. The aftermarket is cheaper. Three years ago when I got all four new brake pads installed the dealer price was $ 1,300. Same exact thing was only $ 400 non-dealer.

Got to be kidding right? You can call Porterfield and order pads for this car, with about 9 different compounds in stock, for $140 fronts and something like $90 for rears. That is around $250 plus about 1 hour of labor. And you get to select the type of compound you want on the tire, much better than just stock replacements. Someone is making some serious cash.

I am quoting directly from the EVO article re replacement prices for the DISCS.Brake pads are listed at £165 F & R.They also list F and R dampers at £440 EACH!
The only area the 350 is cheaper is in servicing where figures of £330 & £617 are given for minor and major work .

Well, I suppose those guys aren't counting on owner maintenance or owner sweat. Figures.

How embarrassing ! I've just realised that the issue of the magazine was in the post's title - and I asked what issue it was in !! What a knob I am !

I can tell you from experience - AP Disks (as opposed to pads) are NOT cheap (even if you source them yourself). That being said, the price does look a smidgen high...

The AP discs are very expensive - if you buy from lotus. pukesprit.de sells AP discs for about half that price.

I just had all four shocks/dampers replaced yesterday. The parts only price was $ 760 for all four from JAE.

I've just read the acticle, the Sport 350 does not have ABS and the chargecooler pumps are prone to breaking !! Where do they get their information from ? Maybe they just make it up !!

LEW has a copy of 'EVO' and the current 'Practical Classics' Buying Guide for Giugiaro's. Both will be on LEW in the near future.

As for the ABS and Chargecooler comments. If the writers took the time to use the web to research, they would have found LEW, which would have supplied them with the correct information. LEW never seems to get emails from journalist before they write articles on the Esprit. Don't know where they get their info from, but there's always false info in these sorts of articles!

p.s. won't be correcting the articles, but will place comments in brackets next to the incorrect info, to enlighten!

In the 'Useful contacts' section of the article, only one web site is mentioned for the Esprit and it', wait for it..... www.lotusespritworld.com
