War Eagle!
I myself am an Auburn grad...but that was a long time ago.

I use www.USChrome.com to rework my Nikasil liners. Thanks to me, they have a custom jig for the 910...but that is another story.

If you want some interesting bedtime reading on Nikasil, go and have a look at

www.lestac.co.uk/bmw/nikasil.htm

Seems there are significant issues with high sulphur fuels.

Jaguar also had some of the same issues in their late 90's to early 2000 V8 motors. Something fishy there though as nikasil has been used extensively in motorcycle and other automotive engines including Lotus with no such problems........My wildly uneducated guess is that it is due to some combination of the nikasil, high sulfur content fuel and some other unknown (or undisclosed) factors.

I got my degree in Mechanical Engineering, but have spent the majority of my career in the Electrical field. I've been a Technical Salesman all my career.

Looking back, I think I would have been happier (and made more money) if I got into Porsche/BMW/Mercedes Mechanic School!

Judson, you are man! Can I borrow your expertise?

If you know electronics/parts maybe you can help me. I am looking for a do it your self connector kit like I had when I was in grad school. Basically, a kit with male and female connectors (4,6,8,10,12 pin types) plus a pin insert tool and pins so that you can make your own connectors. The one I had was simple white plastic connectors that fit together well and really made projects nice.

I am having a hell of a time describing what I want to Newark or Digikey and explorations on their websites have lead to a large amount of frustration. Any suggestions?

I've got a number of e-projects on the go:

*Water injection for Lotus
*Variable exhaust geometry project for a 907, hmmm?
*And a temp sensor ciruit for the Lotus

Hope that Jensen hybrid is coming along well, I would like to see it next time I'm in your neck of the woods. JH prep still progressing, I'll post some pics soon so you can check out the cage - the guy did an awesome job.

best,
Ron

Hey Dr.Ron,
If you need an exhaust manifold flange, I can get you a one piece flange water jet cut out of 1/2" 304 for about $210. Assuming the 907 flange is the same as a 910 flange.

Hey Dr. Hess,

I won't need one for the 907, but thanks for the offer. The 907 is in my Jensen Healey and it, unfortunately, is fed through two Stromberg carbs without a turbocharger. So it'll be wearing a 4 into 1 header, specific for the JH, with no Lotus type manifold. Hope things are well with your car, have you made manifolds yet?

I pick up my first flange set tomorrow. Got the elbows in last week and I'm shopping for pipe.

A 4 into 1 with no turbo shouldn't be too bad. I made this one:

from scratch, including the collector. Had the flange water jet cut from 3/8" 304. Not having to hold a turbo up and put up with the increased heat means I didn't have to go as heavy on everything. Did take 6 weeks of all my spare time, though.
