I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE SO ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT A BREED OF CARS IN MY LIFE. YOU GUYS ARE THE REASON I WILL BE PURCHASING A B-E-A-UTIFUL RED 1989 LOTUS ESPRIT TURBO SE. (FROM WHAT I GATHER IN TECH TALK IT WOULD BE ABBREVIATED 89MYSE WHICH SAYS IT ALL.) I WAS ALWAYS SKEPTICAL ABOUT LOTUS BECAUSE I'VE ALWAYS HEARD THEY BREAK DOWN ALOT. WELL HAVING WORKED ON SO MANY DOMESTIC CARS THROUGHOUT MY LIFE( AS AN AMATEUR, I ALWAYS HAD JUNK CARS) THE CHORE OF WORKING AND ACTUALLY FIXING THE PROBLEMS HAS NOW TURNED INTO A HOBBY. I ENJOY THE CHALLENGE OF TROUBLSHOOTING AND SUCESSFULLY FIXING A PROBLEM. INCLUDING PREVENTIVE MAINTENENCE. SO HAVING CONFESSED TO YOU MY FOUNDATION I THINK I AM READY FOR THE FAST IDLE STARTS IN THE MORNING, THE CRANKINESS FROM THE TURBO ON A HOT DAY, AS I LIVE IN SO-CALI, THE SMELL OF GAS, THE SMALL ENGINE BAY, THE RED HOT CLUTCH CABLE PROBLEM, THE DOORS THAT DONT OPEN ALL THE WAY OUT, THE MUSHY TRANNY, THE EXPENSIVE PARTS, THE EXSTENSIVE MAINTENENCE AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT GOES ALONG WITH BEING "MARRIED" TO ONE. I DO. NOW I NEED TO FIND OUT WHERE THERE IS A LOTUS CLUB IN S-CALI WHERE I CAN TALK WITH PEOPLE AND SEE SOME FINE EXAMPLES. HELP. ALSO INSURANCE SUGGESTIONS. IM READY FOR THE COMMITMENT OF OWNING ONE EVEN IF SOME DAYS I HAVE TO WORK ON HER. ALL THE BETTER.

Jeff,

Congrats!

Glad to see a new owner who has done their homework, you're in the right place.

Check with Lotus Limited, they have a couple of affiliate clubs in Ca.

You might also check the Yahoo Turbo Esprit list if you haven't already.

Good luck with the new baby.

Welcome!

I think you'll find Esprit people to be some of the friendliest, passionate, and most helpful car people around.

If you're in So. Cal, then definitely look into Club Lotus LA and also the new So. Cal Lotus Club that was just formed about a month ago. Going on drives and being around others with a similar passion will enhance your Esprit experience greatly.

A while ago, I put together an event where our northern club (Bay Area Esprit Group) drove down and the southern club (Club Lotus LA) drove up to meet at the mid-point of California for a joint get-together in San Luis Obispo at the Madonna Inn. Downright awesome!!!

If you're ever in the SF bay area, send me an e-mail and I'll get the group together for you in your honor. By the way, this invitation is open to everyone!

89SE is a good year! No airbag, no ABS! That's a good thing by the way.

You might want to check out some of the things that I have done/had to do to my 89SE.
