My heaters were dodgy (no windsceen or hot air) and I found the cause. Up until now plugging the small plastic hose going from the T-Piece has cured the prob but I want to reconnect it properly.

It's a RHD UK car, so is the connection under the glove box somewhere?

Thanks

Funny, I had my center console out the other day and found a 6-8" hard plastic hose lying on the center tunnel. My HVAC seems to work but I've been wondering where that hose came from.

Ok you lot are going to love this ,to get the heater controls working correctly you are going to have to gain access to the back of the heater control panel.where you will find a couple of poppet valves ,the black tubing(s) connects to each of these poppet valves but you have to make sure you get them hooked up correctly, other wise you will have air going to the screen when it should be to the floor and so on.......you can do it through the radio slot (obviously removing it first) or it is possible (although its bloody tight) to get to the pipes either side of the footwells.Where each of the pipes go to can be seen quite clearly on the Lotus Manual, perhaps someone else has a copy they can put on here? But it is a complete arse ache of a job and you will probaly have noticed that your vac pump is constantly running because it cant draw a vacum and shut off. Also prepare for cut wrists and cursing the Lotus engineers who though of such a stupid idea !
Best of luck

Thanks - I understand the workings etc - just needed to know where to plug the sucker back in - only one is disconnected.

Splodge - you need to look here mate www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=54577&f=17&h=0&hw=vacuum+heater+control

sounds like you may have an unplugged or leaky vac hose.

Have a feel for the T-piece under the steering column somewhere. A network of small black plaggy hoses - sounds like one of yours has come off.

cheers
