hi i have a few questions. 1st at idle i can hear like a pop sound from the tail pipe just some times,also when im driving and let off the gas i hear the same sound like a pop missfire but car runs great and no check eng light on?2nd is im getting like a buzzing sound rattle between 2500-3000 rpms,do other esprits have rattles?other than that vehicle runs great.

Hey Adam,

Yes, you can get little pops and backfires from time to time. Depending on how many miles are on the car you might want to check the cambelts for proper timing and tension as I've noticed more backfiring when they are in need of attention. As for the rattle... I suggest you check the exhaust system from the turbos back for proper mounting (tightness) and for any cracks. Also be sure to check the heat shields on each side up by the turbo and exhaust manifold area. I've had this crack at the mounting hole and the rattle is annoying.

hi km thanks for the info.the car has 1400 miles.the rattles and the buzzing sound are very annoying.i just hate taking to dealer its 45 mins away no traffic and hard to get away from work.should i be concerned with the popping some times.

As for the occassional popping, shouldn't be a problem. Mine has survived over 40K miles and does it every now and then. BTW - you can remove the upper cambelt cover on the right side of the engine with a single bolt, then reach down and test the belt tension by hand on the slack side just below the tensioner. If it feels like it can flap back and forth, they are probably due for tensioning.
