I just had all four brake pads replaced. Two questions on it. Now the emergency brake is like a wet noodle and really has no resistance when you pull on it at all. It goes all the way vertical and still makes no attempt to hold the car still. Secondly, I could have sworn all four calipers had the words "Brembo" in white letters on them. Now only the two fronts do. It is a 1995. Any ideas?

Has someone nicked your rears ? Sounds like your handbrake wasn't readjusted after they changed the rear pads...unless they didnt connect the handbrake cables up? Have a look and see if the calipers are yours and that the cable assembly is correctly adjusted

Thanks for the response. Are you saying all four of yours have "Brembo" on them? I see you are from the UK, the USA spec cars might be different, I don't know. It is going back to them for new shocks soon, so I wanted to have some evidence on my side before then.

Skerd,

The rear calipers do not have "Brembo" in white on them, only the front.

They may not have hooked up the parking brake cable properly and there is also a particular adjustment procedure for them in the manual.

If it appears to be hooked up correctly, you might try ratcheting the handbrake lever up and down several times to see if that takes up the slack.

I can email you the brake section of the manual if you send me your email addy.
