Hi all.

I'm visiting Virginia (Staunton - Exit 222 on I81) at the end of November for a little under 2 weeks and was wondering if there were any Esprit owners in that neck of the woods that may like to meet up and have a chat. As it's a business trip, I'm always looking for stuff to do in the evenings (sadly I'm busy the weekend of 4/5 Dec), so if you fancy grabbing a bite to eat or a beer and some Esprit talk, please do post and let me know.

Thanks,

Jason.

I am in Charlotte NC. Not quite close enough for a meet up though.

Raleigh NC here. Staunton is a beautiful town. I might be convinced on a slow Saturday to drive up there on the Parkway. Got a buddy with a 90 SE (with 330 hp to wheels!) and myself with a 93 SE in Raleigh. maybe we can road trip up and visit.

E-mail is youngj@mvalaw.com. Shoot me one when you get a chance.

Staunton is nice and right beside Waynseboro, where a buddy of mine lives. I might indeed be up for a trip if the time is available!

Pete, Waynsboro/Staunton isn't far from Maryland....Might could get three Esprits in that area, probably more than they've ever seen!

Wow!

How awesome would that be? If you guys want to, I can rearrange my weekend slightly so I have a day in the Staunton / Waynesboro area (or wherever else you want to meet) and see my friend in DC on the other day.

Please let me know which is the most convenient for you all.

Looking forward to it already

Looked at my calendar. Not sure when you are arriving, but unfortunately 4/5 of Dec. is best for me. Ron and I are at the track with the Lotuses on 11/12, and I'm at a different track with my race car on 11/27 and 28. If I recall, Staunton is about a 4-5 hour drive, so a nice saturday ride up the Parkway would work, but during the week no luck.

Could do it on the 18th or the 4th. Either of those days work for you?

Staunton is a neat mountain town. Have you been to that part of Virginny before?

Staunton is a bit of a stretch on short notice but if you are visiting a friend in DC (assuming you will travel north in I81 to East on I66) you will pass within 5 miles of me in Manassas VA. Would love to catch up for a bitter and swap some stories....

Sounds like fun. Its 219.27 miles from me, not bad at all. I've got to go to Boise for a week sometime during the first three weeks in Dec. If you guys can solidify a date I'll see if I can work my trip around it.

Russel, drive down with Pete, not too far to Waynesboro area. If Jeff and I can make it then we've got 4 Loti, not bad!

Pete, what is up in Boise?

A tech writer is going to document my software. I've got to brief him, get him started, and be around for questions. Sure wish I put more comments in my code...

Guys, looks like a great drive from Raleigh. Up to Mt. Airy on 52 then to the Parkway and up teh Parkway to Staunton. I can do this on Dec. 4, meet in Stuanton 4 or so, have dinner, drive back a ways, or maybe all the way, that night. Or stay in Mt. Airy or W-S.

Will this work guys?

Well, The Minister of Domestic Affairs tells me that we will be visiting some friends in Virginia on that weekend, but, I can't go driving off in the Lotus. So, I guess I'm out. I still want to put a beach trip together and Dec/Jan are pretty good times to do it since weather is fairly decent, 60s, not bad.

Sounds good to me. I will go and visit my friend in DC on the Sunday then.

Good idea! If you can't make it down to meet with the others, I will deffinitely try and see you at some other stage.

That's a real shame.

Looks like it's going to be a good meeting. There's a nice restaurant in the old part of the town with a largeish car park which is by a glass fronted private car collection. I think it's called The Byer Street Bistro. I will try to find out. If anybody else has any better rendezvous points, that's cool.

See you all in a couple of weeks

Hi all.

I'm now state side so can communicate in real time

I was just wondering if you'd had any more thoughts about meeting this Saturday.

If you want to meet anywhere other than Staunton (junction of Skyline drive and Interstate for example (is it I64 that runs East from I81 to Richmond?)) then that is AOK with me.

Look forward to hearing from you.

All the best,

Jason.

Well, I was told I can't go because of another trip to Roanoke. But, now my daughter is ill and if she doesn't get better we don't go, which would me I'd be free for a drive up and Jeff might as well. R

I just had a terrible thought. If anybody tried to e-mail using my link on the forum, then it would've gone to my office rather then to me! Hopefully nobody did. Sorry we didn't get to meet today - maybe next time

Jason.

Finally caught up with Jason after several months and had a brilliant afternoon at a little Irish pub in Warrington, Virginia... really! Unfortunately, my TE is still DOA so I could not drive it up to meet him. None-the-less, we made significant inroads on resolving the problems-of-the-world as they relate to performance vehicles, Lucas electronics and the South of England... wife commented that;
1. She is happy that speeding tickets in the UK, France, and the rest of the EU do not influence insurance rates in the US,
2. She had now met at least least two people who probably needed significant therapy,
3. She may be persuaded to let me negotiate for one of those last '04 Turbo Esprits that sits in the showroom up in Baltimore...
Does life get any better?
Hoping to catch up again in the UK during the week of May 9, and maybe in France for LeMans later on.. July?). Anybody available? Anyway, we had a great afternoon! Hope to give "locals" a bit more notice next time he is here.
