Imagine the scene - bought my beloved white Esprit one week ago, after 25 years of longing. Yesterday a careless woman tried to park behind it, and missed! Tore the black trim off the side of the car and scraped the back bumper. As a newbie I'm looking for some advice on how to basically stick the trim back on and touch up the bumper - what adhesive do I use & where do I get it? Didn't think superglue was an option!

First, did you contact the police, so she can pay for the damages? Being a, "Nice Guy" with a lotus is not the thing to do. Several years ago some Pick-up backed up over mine. I learned not to be, "Nice". With no police record I ended up never getting the several hundred dollars to repair the damage. He was never there or it was, "Too Much". Loti are never cheap to repair the fiberglass or any thing else on it.

So all you lawyers out there! What to do?

When one of my other cars got hit in a paking lot, my insurance co, said that parking lots have an insurance policy to pay for that. Yes?

I'm not sure how the trim was held on in the first place, but if it was purely glue, my local motor factors, and therefore I'm sure your local motor factors, sell a spray adhesive made by "Granville" called imaginatively "Auto Spray Adhisive" which I can recomend, but beware it's no good for polystyrene.

I recently had to re-attach the black molding on my 1977 Esprit. It fell off due to old age....

Anyway, I used a simple silicone based water-proof adhesive found in most hardware stores and it worked great. I would make sure that you definitely use an adhesive that is water-proof or specifically made for outdoor use.
